Sentosa rocks at night

Its coming to 3am and I am still typing this because I don't have to go to work tomorrow ! I tender my resignation and received my pay for the 2 weeks I worked.Everyone was shocked at my decision to leave but oh well ... really getting to miss the ppl over there especially the person sitting next to me , eunike.I managed to find a couple of my colleagues in facebook and added them , haha.Even have a few of them in msn now.

I went over to sentosa with Jack for a dip in the pool.Chat with IT jobs and alot of random stuff.What I like most about sentosa at night is that there isn't a single soul there.Scenary was extremely beautiful.The only crappy thing were those seaweeds floating around.The stress in my heart has dissapeared and I feel refreshed.I am going to study hard for the next couple of days and get my basics right.The battle has just began ...

Leaving my job has never been so hard

I have just printed out my resignation letter.Prepared to submit tomorrow and leave on the spot.Bought present for Eunike to thank her for her help for the past few weeks.My briefing is coming soon , I should touched up on my java asap.I just realised zon had completed the same program as me .He told me the course is programming intensive and the questions he asked me are what they expect us to know there already.I should revise and build up my fundamentals first before I continue with my next job.Who knows , maybe I am gonna transfer all my credits after finishing this first module and head over to adelaide next year to do it full-time.My options are open.Anyway , zon told me the reason he recommended me among the other candidates was because he saw I was interesting in programming.However , at the rate I am going , I don't think I will be able to produce any results.Glad that he asked me to reconsider but I guess I am moving on.

F1 racing

Its the F1 racing day !!! I went to took a look abit since I arrived early at raffles.The area where they were racing was quite a distance away but I could hear the noise all the way over at boat quay.

Met up with kl and his friends for a drink at boat quay after that.Lots of interesting people at MP as usual.There is this ge tai waitress , think she was super high that nite.scorpion queen and this other gal.

I went out to take a breather with kl after drinking halfway.Very encouraged by what he said to me.Thanks for supporting whatever decision I am going to make.His story about the kid who was being forced to study even though he really can't meet up to the expectation really got me thinking.Sometimes hardwork and determination the impossible may still be impossible.Its the reality of the situation and not the mindset.The view of the lonely night.

How to surf block websites at work

we met jiewei for lunch today.He kept giving tips on how to surf during work since they block most websites :) the method he kept mentioning was to type the URL without the "WWW" in the run menu.Doesn't matter because since whatever websites we go to will be logged down.Even chats.

I believe in saying out whatever I know to recall and help myself in understanding.If he feels that I just know the term but don't know to use it , so be it.Like everyone knows how to do everything at their first few weeks at work.The most I will just keep quiet when he ask next time.The workload may not be that heavy now but I can feel it is gonna get harder.Many people have been saying how straight forward he is and the amount of people he chase away.Doesn't matter to me , I still have my studies.

Saw weikian at the coffee shop on the way back after dinner.He is still working in the bank which derrek works in except in a different branch.Its weird calling them by their names without the Sgt or even calling my PC by his name when I see him instead of SIR.Well , we are out of the army , ORD LOH...

I Was thinking of doing up my portfolio consisting of the few multimedia projects I did in poly.Then I can proceed straight to a non programming job if I need to leave the company.Backup contingency plan.The IT field is so limited in sg , its either programming or networking.Multimedia would mostly consist of website designers.Then you will be competing with not only your poly people , but also people with impressive portfolios and those from private schools like nafa and lasalle.

Saw jie wei at amoy street

Zon is back today and everyone went on with their work as usual.I spend the day trying to figure out alot of stuff and understanding the logic behind them.Melvin and I went for lunch today and we decided to walk over to amoy street.It was there where we noticed jie wei and his friend.He was complaining how horrible his job was.The pay was 7 bucks an hour and he has to do alot of stuff.Draw graphs and diagram to present , do javascript.How we miss our time in camp , no civillian stress.However , I will still not consider signing on.At least I get to go home every night :)

Dinner with my colleagues

I was back late last night so I didn't have the chance to blog.Just for updates , I went for a steamboat dinner with my colleagues yesterday.There is arcade queen shu ting who thrashed me in almost every arcade game , Jackson whose programming is super pro ,his gf iris , Japanese hot babe ayako who hates spicy tom yam soup .Dinner was good except I don't know why shuting loves meatballs and golden mushroom so much.The meatballs were unbelievable , lol.We took so much stuff until we realised we may get finned a penalty for wastage of food.Hit the arcades after that , Played quite a number of games , even some lame ones.I realised I am totally not exposed to alot of games , like the basketball hoops game , throwing the ball at the screen , racing , tekken.Still can't believe I lost to arcade queen .

I am given a deadline for my current project on hand which is due this friday.Really appreciate eunike for all the help she gave me.I think she had spent a long long time explaining alot of stuff to me.People with normal intellect would at least understand 90 % of it , I think I understand only 70 % of it totally. I My foundation is so bad and I feel so useless.Hope I could get used to this job soon.Tessa gave melvin and I a briefing today about the company operation which I felt was very helpful to my understanding.I guess I need more practice and experiments with Java and struts.Lets hope I can last there for at least this month.

My new shoes

We went to boat quay last night to look for krist and had some drinks :) We later ended up in this ktv called cashbox but it was full , only time available was at 2am.
Totally dissapointed and ended up eating mac and heading home.

However , we went for klunch today instead !!! I also got myself some new shoes.

The formula 1 event is up.I have a birds eye view of it !! hehe.Actually its just this control car models.

We saw this small pool with lots of plastic ball prison to lock up naughty kids outside .You can consider depositing your kid there before heading for shopping.

Walking back home , I discovered a new maid agency is opened here.It totally sounds like a particular phramacy advertisement kl and I saw in HK.Oh boy , really missing Hk so much.

TGIF

I made some new friends in the company.Still trying to cope with work and the coding there is so chaotic.I realised what we learned in school is nothing compare to work.I think what they do at work could even be at degree level while what we learn in poly is so basic plus 2 years of ns made us forgot most of the stuff.My programming fundamentals aren't strong to begin with and I didn't even saw myself as a programmer in the past.Time for some brushing up on basics if not I am gonna get screwed next week :( I realised I can't even remember how to do simple methods and I don't understand alot of things.Maybe I was just memorising in the past.Lucky daniel gave me some revision online .Cleared alot of my doubts.

There is this internal msn system the company is using and some of them added me and asked us to join them for dinner on monday :) .Really hope to know them better
.Every friday there is a meeting in the company and I am suppose to give a review of what I did for the week.Hopefully I can give a better summary next week.

3rd day and still surviving !!!

I learnt alot about strats and ejb today.Did validation and adding some interface.I am so grateful to the new friend I made sitting next to me.She is so helpful.Able to patiently explain everything to me.Hope I can be as good as her in her programming.I can barely read the complicated coding.The difference between studies and work.Forgot to meet daniel today , so sorry.Totally engrossed with work.Thanks for your coding homework last nite , lets continue discussing soon.

second day at work

I realised something.If you look around in the mrt train you board everyone , everybody seem lifeless and extremely bored .That is because its another work day ! Brings me back to the time when I went the school bus every morning , just that now its going to work , arghhh.

Alot of explanation today , managed to solved the servlet problem today.Read up on my super rusty unix code online and read through some coding of the website.I was yawning through the whole day , I think its because I haven't studied for a long long time.I can't seem to absorb as quickly as before , or I wasn't really good at memorising and understanding stuff , lol.Tomorrow's another working day !

First day at work

Had briefing for almost the whole morning.Then tried abit of netbean before heading for lunch.Learnt quit alot of new stuff today especially the java servlet thing.I get to use html and java .I was trying really hard ,end up it still can't work.Need to revise more at home , tomorrow will be having project briefing.Thats soooo fast.Wonder if I will screw it up.Something stupid happen today , I fell down when eat lunch with my new colleagues , arghhhhh , super suay.All the flooring's fault , there is this line across the floor where they could close the shutter and just nice my chair have to slide in :)

Javabean

Downloaded JDK 5 with bean and did a few tutorial but I realised it was more complicated as I moved on.Interesting thing is that ?Javabean has gui features similar to that of visual basic.net. Tomorrow is my first day at work , totally don't know what to expect.Hope they don't expect that much from me.At least I managed to revise my fundamentals during the week.

Sekirei

Came across this interesting anime last night.Its a mix of everything , hentai , action , romance.It starts with this main character who is a college drop out walking down this street when this sekirei dropped from the sky on to him.She was being pursued by these 2 electric type sekirei as she was still an unwinged sekirei.A sekirei becomes winged when it has direct contact with his owner and thus is able to explore its full potential.He managed to get lots of new sekirei along the way and a very messy love life with everyone vying to be his legal wife.The interesting thing about this sekirei race is that each of them have different types and abilities and there is this ranking system among themselves.The single digits are the more powerful ones.

Bangkok Dangerous

Rule no.1 Never ask any questions !

Bangkok dangerous was so cool.I want to be an assasin who kills in the dark.Bangkok dangerous also highlights some of the coolest nightspots in bangkok.The clubs there seem so fun and the girls are so hot.Besides that , I also learnt some basic sign language from the deaf thai girl.The weirdest part of the movie was the part when nicolas cage was about to be robbed.He ended up killing those guys without even thinking of the consequences.I thought the girl was a spy from the enemy but she is actually just innocently deaf.The ending was abit unbelievable .He managed to wipe out the entire gang all by himself.Taking in a disciple , getting too close to the locals over at bangkok , all these are just things he knew he couldn't do as an assasin but he still went ahead with it.Too bad derrek is spending his night with daphne instead :)

Revision

Went to Daniel's place to revise some Java.I think I ended up playing more than revising.He had this fun game while you can create this creature of your own and raise it through different civillisation.Revision was ok , at least I manage to recap some stuff like methods , arrays , for and while loop and if else statements.Hope I can learn on the job and pick up everything fast if not I am going to have a hard time.Naaec has emailed me.The finalised time table is out.

You will be commencing with your first module 'Computer Science Concepts' in Term 4, 2008.

Classes will be conducted on:-
1st intensive
17 Oct (Fri), 7-10pm
18 Oct (Sat), 1-8pm
19 Oct (Sun), 9am-5pm

2nd intensive
14 Nov (Fri), 7-10pm
15 Nov (Sat), 1-8pm
16 Nov (Sun), 9am-5pm

The exam is held on 13 Dec (Sat), 10am-12.10pm

weekend classes ~ lucky it is only going to occur on 2 weekends.

ORD LOH

2 years have passed and I figured its time to revive my blog since I promised that I will not blog during my time in NS to prevent accident revealations of classified information regarding the SAF.

"ORD may not be a good thing after all" Derrek smsed to me a few days after he orded.It was during august and I had yet to ord so that remark came as a surprise.I am beginning to understand his statement now.

NS life was depressing at first because I have to admit , I wasn't comfortable with the regimental lifestyle.I was having difficulties coping with the training and even today may still have some problems.I guess the interesting thing about it all are the experiences and friends you made during this difficult period.I believe this experience will last forever and the same goes for the friends I made over there.We went through almost every hardship together.There may be some people that I find hard to get along with but I would like to acknowledge a few of these buddies I had.

Thank you dan for being there for me during the difficult times in BMT and always looking out for me.I was being discriminated by the platoon then but you never once look down for me and stood up for me.

Thank you Steve for coming along from viper to being my platoon mate for the 2 years.

Thank you Darrell ,koon liang , kenneth and benny for being there for me not only in camp but also my outside social life.

Thank you Derrek teh for being my bed buddy.I love your exaggerated acts especially the one you swang your underwear around when you got accepted by SIM.

Thank you Yang Jun for always talking alots of random stuff with me especially anime and for printing the ORD survey for me.

Thank you Jian hui for giving advice to us like an elder brother would.Your wisdom is greatly respected.

Thank you yao chong for driving me home with my duffel bag and eating chicken rice with me :)

Thank you Jun ye for always playing naruto with me in bunk and not jioing me to go dragonfly !!!

Thank you rong hua for always asking me to help him do guard duty !!!

And lastly , Thank you Captain kelson for signing my Clearance form on the last day.Like what you said during the last day. I am glad that you are proud we cleared the YTT status of soc and will definitely approach you for advice if I encountered any problems in the real world .

I managed to secure a job which will start next monday with a good starting pay and my weekend classes with naaec are starting next month.Cleared my Basic Theory test yesterday .Everything seem to be going well but I don't really seem happy about it.The main reason would be its time to face the music.2 years in the NS made us led sheltered lives and pass each day counting down towards ORD.We didn't realised that once we ORD , we are exposed to reality of the society we live in.Whatever we learnt during poly days had been overwrite by military related stuff.Now its time to recall back our poly stuff and move on...towards the real world.I remembered something I learn during media class , The real world and the reel world.I guess the 2 years were somehow just reel to me.
